South Devon Bonsai Society was formed in late 1987 in Paignton, Devon. From its very humble beginnings in a cafe with a courtyard, the meetings have gone from strength to strength and the society has a healthy membership of people of all ages with a good balance of male and female. We are a friendly group who are always happy to welcome those new to bonsai who want to know more. Whether you own one bonsai or a lot, please come along as we are always willing to give advice and its good to have fresh ideas and suggestions.

The society meets twice a month on the first Monday evening (7.30pm) and the third Saturday morning (10.30am)  of every month and also attends shows and events in the local area. Once a year we hold an AGM and have a very productive committee who meet about 3 times a year to plan future events in more detail.

When able and funds allow,  we try to holding a special event BONSAI IN THE PARK at Lupton House, a Grade 2 listed building in Torbay, near Brixham.

Annual membership for individuals is £10, or if you are a couple or a family then the cost is £15, we also charge £1 per person for entry to meetings which goes some way towards covering the cost of the hall,  this includes free refreshment at half time, often including cake and biscuits !

If you are interested in joining us,  please come along to any of our meetings detailed on our programme diary page. Alternatively if you have any further queries, please use the contact form or use the link in the sidebar to go to our Facebook page to post your enquiry. We ask that when you have attended two meetings and you are happy with what you see, that you join as a member.

We have been at our present meeting hall for a number of years, we have our own car park too. The hall is a separate building with its car park to the rear of St Paul’s Church, Torbay Road, Preston, Paignton TQ3 2DH—go down the cul-de-sac alongside the Church called Locarno Avenue.  If you are coming from the North of Paignton, eg Teignbridge area, use the directions below.
